“Leslie is a gem. She did an excellent job of connecting with, encouraging and challenging our students. The transition to college is difficult for most students. Leslie’s support was invaluable as our students made this big life transition——-they were successful their first semester, they grew in self-knowledge and they became more confident in their own ability to do hard things. They bonded with Leslie and they learned invaluable things from her, both of which were vital. What a great investment. We would do it again! ”
Why Merit?
Academic life needs a student-centered solution.
Distinct from advising and tutoring, academic life coaching assists learners in developing the skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to their overall success in college and beyond. This can include examining the student’s individual learning styles, motivations, habits of working, and past successes to create impactful solutions to achieve current goals, as well as confront difficulties or barriers to success.
Academic life coaching can run concurrently with other supports, such as counseling or therapy, and can benefit a wide range of learners. Neurodiversity is welcome!
